I started by creating an animatic with the provided styleframes and the voiceover to plan out my animation. As we got these classic Ariel Costa collage-type designs with black and white elements, really bright colours and fun details my goal was to fit the style of my animation to the vibe the styleframes are giving. This project involved dealing with lots of precomps, rebuilding parts of the design in Adobe After Effects, using puppet pins, rigging and some basic expressions among other things.
From coming up with the sneezy face to the machine making the nostril corks out of foam fingers I had a lot of fun working on this explainer video. It was a pleasure bringing these amazing styleframes by Ariel Costa to life!
Nostril Corks
In this final project from School of Motion's course "After Effects Kickstart" we were given styleframes by Emmy Winner Ariel Costa and an audio file promoting "Nostril Corks". Our task was coming up with how to animate all scenes and transitions for this fun – and slightly strange ;-) – 30 second explainer video.
